I'm really not sure about all this. It is epidemic now. Another instance of us being influenced by behaviour from across the pond. In my day it was just a straight forward handshake. It's not just the youngsters is it ? It needs to stop.

Really? You scared someone may hug you and touch your bum?

Do footballers disgust you when they hug and jump on each other?

No, maybe I should have added that it's when they meet up that I find it odd.
Not bothered by a bit of jubilation hugging.
Quite happy if anyone touches my bum btw.

Come on a man hug is a beautiful thing.

Not everyday mind you, but for mates you haven't seen for a while it's a nice show of affection.

Yeah, but in your day we didn't win anything.

The new American way of saying hello is to run at each other at 40mph and smash into the other chaps chest , call me old fashioned but i liked it better when they just hug .

No probs for Dad, brothers and good friends, why not? Take it we are talking "man hug", leaning in, a pat or two on the back?!

you say hug... its usually merely a chest touch followed by a pat on the back.

with a woman its more of a hug with a kiss on the cheek depending on how well you know them.

but yea to answer your question.. bromance is fine.

There you have the problem in a nutshell. New conventions.

Plus - who counts as a good friend ? What about three people approaching you, one you count a good friend, one you have met recently who you like, and one you have known for a long time, but actually don't really care for. Who gets the hugs ?

Much better to just stick out your hand.
