I've always felt Gerrard is far more potent just behind the front man. The problem with having him play more defensively is that he can't resist attempting 40 yard cross field hollywood passes which become predictable and thus he ends up giving the ball away cheaply.

Agreed however Young looks very dangerous in that area and is possibly our most important player to get the ball to, at least until Rooney is back.
