It's a cracking city, though not cheap. I'm sure Codner pharmaceuticals will give you some tips.

Have you been to Switzerland before?! :)

It does have Alsace and the Black Forest just up the road too, which are both beautiful.

Never been to Switzerland before - aware it's dear though can't be as bad as Sweden or Finland though

Spent a couple of days there for work. Nice compact city to walk around and, in the summer, you can swim down the river with the locals but there isn't much to see. If you are booked in a Basel hotel you get free travel on the buses and trams including the one from the airport. However, it's not a cheap place to stay or to eat/drink.

If you do go though, I would recommend getting the train down to Luzern as that is a very beautiful place.

I'm moving to Basel in a month. I hear what you're all saying, but it is a good place. Are there any other seagulls over Basel? I'll keep my season ticket but share it with my sister.

Hope you have a good vacation

It definitely isn't Switzerland as everyone imagines. Flew into Basle once but only drove through city. Didn't see anything special about the place. Of course may have changed.

Really expensive (beer was about £7-8 a go, grub was about £50 a head for a bite to eat at lunch time (that did include beer though)), not allot there, what was there to keep a young gent entertained wasn't much cop. Nice enough place but it should be given how much everything costs.

I won't be hurrying back.

As others have said nip over the border and drink over there.
