I understand that the police have informed the football leagues that due to the Olympics they will not be able to provide police presence for any pre-season friendlies. This isn't just a London thing, because police will be used from all across the country.

So any friendlies which are organised can only be ones which need to be police-free.

This is in addition to the season starting later than usual, with both Football League & Premier League season starting on the same day - 18th August.

I bet they manage to get enough police cover for gay pride day whenever that is???
