Thought we (Boro) played well. Maybe should have won.

Great turn out from us but the atmosphere was strangely flat - think everyone was either p*ssed from the journey or hungover from night before.

Amex is a decent little ground. Cameron Ale on as the "visiting" beer, concourse was lit up red and showing pictures of Boro players on a big projector. Nice touches, pie was good too.

We were slow out of the blocks in the first half and Brighton had the better of it. Couple of tests for Steele but nothing too uncomfortable.

Second half we were a lot brighter. Seemed to playing 4-3-1-2 with Robson at the heart at the of everything in the hole. We got a deserved, but slightly lucky, goal and then Juke hit the post. You equalised but thought we looked the more likely side to win.

I have to say that the Brighton fans were possibly the best home fans I've ever encountered in my 20 odd years of going to games (Big shout!). Not particularly vocal but were friendly, good natured and chatty before and after the game - even applauding us when our attendance were read out over the loudspeaker. It would be quality to go back in the play-offs on a balmy May night.

Thank you for the post, it's good to see opposition fans coming to the game and then making the effort to come on here after.

For what it's worth, I think everything you said there is fair enough. In the past weeks we've had conversations on here about who has put in the best opposition performance against us, it's fair to say Barry Robson has put his name right to the top of the list. With Marvin Emnes very close by aswell, to be fair. But that said, I thought we did have the chances at 0-0, in the first half if not the second, and we could have gone in at half time ahead. El-Abd could have done better at the near post from the corner, for example. And Mattock's drive could have caught a deflection and found its way in. Either way, it didn't happen and we went in at 0-0. Second half, you deserved to take the lead and were unlucky not to make it 2-0, but on the balance of play in the end, I thought 1-1 was the right result.

Thanks for your praise of our fans aswell. But you're not welcome to return this season. Play-off final, fair enough. But I would prefer someone else in the semi's!

All seems fair enough to me. The Amex is comparatively little in new ground terms but, planning permission depending, is only 2 thirds finished. I thought we had slightly better of the first half and you dominated the 2nd. Was pleased to get a point in the end. Robson is a cracking player and you played Vicente perfectly. We've been much noisier than that too this season - we were much quieter yesterday than against Pompey (understandably) and Derby (not quite so understandably).

I thought both teams were good yesterday and the draw was a fair result overall.

Thought Robson ran the game for Boro, he wouldnt look out of place in a premier league team.

At 1-1 I was waiting for some emphasis from Brighton to take hold of the game and go on and win it, however it seemed in the last 15 minutes that both teams were more scared to loose. Which is fair enough I guess looking at both teams positions in the league.

I thought Middlesbrough just edged the first half and I thought they absolutely dominated the second. We were very lucky to get a draw. It's not that we played badly, I'd say we were mediocre, but they were very good. Having seen them twice, I'd say they and Reading are the best teams we've played. It's not often our midfield gets overrun but Vicente had his worst game for us and Bridcutt was like a boy against men. Credit to Middlesbrough, because those two are two of our best players and they totally kept them out of the game.

i agree with the part about boro being the best side we've faced (twice), at boro they looked a tidy and decent outfit, it seems like they were exactly the same yesterday. They should be higher up in the league tbh.

I think they just lack something in front of goal. If they had a better final ball I could see them firmly in the top two. While a draw is a bit disappointing, I think it'll turn out to be a very good point. Not losing is the most important thing in games like that, and somehow we didn't.

I agree with your assessment re boro...quite neat and tidy but just lacked that final ball...always a threat mind...at the same time though we were always a threat ourselves...when you compare now with the first game of the season ..we have made massive strides

Yeah good turn out from you guys. I was pretty nervous, getting to that part of the season, but the home fans are always quite quiet near the south stand. I thought the north stand were ok, but you don't hear much from where you sit.

We barely touched the ball until we got a corner on the 9th minute, I don't think you were slow to start. We then had some decent moves and I wasn't too unhappy at half time. From where I sat I thought the ref gave a few too many decisions your way.

Remembering the cheer when 5 minutes of injury time were announced, I guess the home fans thought they were the more likely to win it.

Although that happened for several games earlier in the season, it was stopping a bit, but it was a fair gesture yesterday, that was a decent number to come so far.
