In which Adam El Abd (you know, that guy that was nowhere near good enough for us when we were an arse end of League One team) had Hatem Ben Arfa (dubbed "The New Zidane" by French fans a few years ago) in his pocket for 90 minutes.

Seriously though, Adam's progression has been nothing short of remarkable. He was playing completely out of position, being put onto his wrong foot constantly, yet looked entirely in command at all times. Just fantastic.

Seems more confident since returning from injury. Would start him at LB instead of painter now. Gotta credit Barnes tho he did a brilliant job getting back and helping him out!

Think El-Abd would have won the MOTM award had it not been for Buckley's solo run for the goal. Great performance in supposedly his weakest defensive position. Will be great to have him playing against Palace tomorrow. We missed him badly in the first game

El Abd was true MOM for me, nothing against Buckers. Also yes, Barnes gave a hint last night that he might be growing into that role, and should be commended for his hard work.
