Just read that Gus reckons the pitch is to blame for all our [Hamstring] injuries. When the stadium was being built there was lots of talk about this new "springy" stuff that would reduce the risk of injuries. Instead the pitch seems to be too hard and is causing lots of injuries! I know its winter and the pitch hardens - but the undersoil heating should compensate for that - so what's happened to the "springy" stuff!!??? Our injury list is appalling this season!

I have a theory on this - think about the list of players who have suffered this season with their hamstrings : Buckley, Noone, Painter, Taricco and Lua Lua. They all play down the flanks and therefore regularly find themselves running off the edge of the pitch which is lined with astro turf and then a lethal plastic looking advertising layer which is a slippery as f**k. So when these lads find themselves running off the pitch at full pelt they no doubt suddenly tense their muscles in an attempt to steady themselves to stop them from slipping arse over tit and do themselves a serious injury. This will naturally cause the muscle to tweak and the weakness starts there. The next over stretch and the hamstring goes. Just my own theory mind !!!

Err............. the pitch will only harden with frost. If anything it would be the summer when the pitch would be harder without watering. At present one would think the pitch would be soft considering the amount of rain. The undersoil heating would only be used below certain temperatures, which has not happened yet.

I don't think you can blame the pitch, it's hi-tech and all that.

Don't see too many opposition players limping off with hamstring injuries.

Maybe it's just a case of bad luck.

Okay fair point there, but I don't live in England and don't read the weather forecast much! It's as frosty as hell here!!
