Much nicer! Half empty trains, no argy-bargy on the tube and Saturday timetable meant I left home half an hour later than usual and got to the office at exactly the same time.

Wish Southern ran the Brighton, East Croydon, Clapham Junction, Victoria 56 minutes service on weekday mornings!

Blagged to WFH yesterday and tomorrow, so thought I'd put in an appearance today!

Watch the bastards screw up the complete network on the first mass return to work in the New Year, the first day that the fare increases kick in. Its practically traditional, a sharp reminder, lest you forget, that they OWN your sorry hide.

Got to show willing, I suppose.

Don't you just know it. Have said before that last year was probably my worst for commuting in my 23 years, so many major outages. Hoping next year will be better, but I'm definitely going to claim my delay-repay at every oppotunity.

How does that work - do you get vouchers or something? I've never bothered claiming it as my company pay for my season ticket anyway. Is there any benefit in me claiming or do they just knoc it off next years S/T ?

You can get vouchers for the train - can be used on any line, just instead of money. You can, though, opt for a cheque - they used to make this option a bit obscure, but on Southern they're now next to each other. You don't get a huge amount back, but may as well get what you can. Don't make it up, they'll check against their late running records.

To do it online, you need a scan of your season ticket.

Worth doing as well. I put 4 claims in for the start of December, took 5 mins to do and I got £45 back in vouchers on Christmas eve. I don't use them for my season ticket payment so basically get free travel to a couple of games a season.

I think that's the way forward, and one that should be adopted by every NSCer. Be rude not to really.

Only bad thing is for some reason they've stopped giving out vouchers of greater value than a fiver. Guess that might have been because they printed a job load as there was going to be a number of claims due to the problems they've had of late.

Bit of a nightmare when you actually use them as they have to note the serial number of the voucher for each voucher so I'd say don't use them if you are in a hurry to get a train (also be warned you'll piss off everyone else in the queue behind you).

the numbers are noted so as they can check who uses them as they are not transferrable and you should have to put name. journey etc on the back.
