I am keeping up. Caroline Lucas has no influence on the planning committee, says she supports the stadium expansion you say she's just saying that to curry favour.
Kitkat has no influence with the planning committee, if he was to say he supports it, won't that be seen as currying favour, too? Why should he bother?

The expansion of the stadium won't purely be a political decision, it will also depend on officer and external agency (highways agency for instance) support. As people have said throughout this thread it will come down largely to the transport assessment. If the club can put measures/improvements in place that can cope with the increased demand on roads, buses and trains then there would be no legitimate reason to object. If they can't then frankly the stadium shouldn't be expanded at this time...its as simple as that really.
There will always be solutions available that can cope with the extra traffic impact, its whether the club consider it economically viable to fund these solutions when compared to the additonal revenue from the seats.

And any members of the planning committee who comment on this proposal, before an application is submitted and the evidence reviewed would in my opinion risk fettering their discretion and therefore their ability to be involved in the debate/vote at any future committee.
Actually yes. Would have saved a binfest if he'd said so a couple of days ago but better late than never.

Caroline Lucas has been an impressive MP - she's been recipient of awards from the Tory Spectator and from Total Politics magazine.
I think she'll comfortably increase her majority next time round ... and will double it if HB&B canvasses for the Tories again

Exactly this. Her share of the vote is going to increase, and I reckon the green vote in neighbouring wards will too. HB&B campaining for the Tories is a trivial but amusing string to her bow, and she can only hope (in vain) that someone as fuckwitted can "assist" the Labour campaign in the same way.

Steve Bassam is suggesting that this is the case. I think it might be more complicated than that.
I'd like to know more about the Club's consultants' assessment of the transport impact of stadium expansion, but that may be because I'm a transport planner.
Stadium expansion seems to be an issue that the Club want to push through very quickly. Jason Kitcat seems to be arguing a case for careful consideration of all the issues, Steve Bassam seems to be saying that any delay will be seriously damaging to the Club.
