Jump a string bean.

It was a slight surprise to me that Southampton were better than expected: Guly, Do Prado and especially Fox that for the first time this season failed to give Noone a look in.

Pumping into the channels will only beat a deep defence if they make the inevitable mistakes, as we always do, at least once, more often usually.

Macca over Lambert for me. Passing football instead of channel hoofing as well.

Can we pinch that defender form Celtic? But is he as good as Reyes, El-Abd ?

TB go and break the bank with an offer for Lambert in January that Southampton cant afford to turn down .

money would be better spent on a decent physio/chiro/osteopath apparently ........to get the crocks we have already signed fit and playing again. imho of course.

One incedent I thought was class. At 2-0 Saints fans near me were singing 'Poyet, what's the score, Poyet Poyet what's the score' when he was in his technical area. Gus Poyet looked at that section of the crowd, made a two and a zero sign with his hands to the fans and shrugged at them as he continued to look at them. Thought that was brilliant. Of course some fans then chanted 'wanker, wanker' but a load just laughed and applauded him.

haha! Gus is brilliant.

Referee Enquiry

Waking up this morning, I thought it was an outrageous display of diving and provocation throughout from Southampton, especially from Do Prado and Guly. And before Southampton's goal they created two half chances in the first half (less than opponents usually create). I think if the game had continued in the vein of the first half Southampton would have won 1-0. But we may very well have changed it in the last 25 minutes if the referee had not intervened with the ridiculous decisions. And he had not warned Southampton about their play-acting although one player was booked, This is the worst referee I have ever seen by quite a large margin.

Guly Do Prado = one person, not two.

Yep I was getting the players mixed up. He was a good player, but he should have been sent off for the off the ball incidents and dangerous play.

100% disagree. His yellow card wasn't even a foul, it was a great tackle. He won the ball. I don't remember any off the ball incidents? He had a high foot in the second half and a free kick against was given.

So apart from the Ref, the TV Commentator who were both born in Princess Anne Maternity Hospital in Southampton. (Probably.) We were always fighting a loosing battle, as The Albion are Saints feeder team.

Winning the ball does not make it any less a foul so the yellow card was justified and the a few minutes later he kicked the ball away after being penalised so should have got a 2nd yellow according to the FL/FA instructions to refs.

It kind of does though. If the ref gave the foul based on the fact he slid in and didn't win the ball, and booked him accordingly... the fact he won the ball means no free kick and no yellow card.

I don't want to argue, I like this forum as it has quite a decent calibre of posters, on the whole. But I just felt that someone saying Southampton displayed an outrageous level of diving and provocation throughout was an extreme view.

I dont think that Southampton dived any more than any other team, us included last season, looking for a penalty but was all down to the inefficiency of the ref. Even when you were leading 1-0 I didnt think that we would equalise but the ref ruined what could have been an interesting game.
