I don't care that Ashley Barnes isn't as flair as the others,

The man is a BORN goal scorer. He's done that since the day he arrived at Withdean and will do so for us at the very highest level. Magnificent player.

There's just one person who doesn't think he's good enough. What does he know ?

Well to be fair to him, at the time he said he didn't think Barnes was STRONG enough, and its clear that Barnes is a lot tougher now.

Since then he's seemed to be on some sort of personal crusade, to the point that the goal at Cardiff was 'lucky' and all his penalties should really have been saved.

But this thread is about Barnes, not Burns. 29 goals in 50 starts, 15 sub. Impressive.

or can be quiet in games, or isn't as flicky-flicky, as long as keeps putting the goal in the f***ing net

Very much THIS. Doesn't matter how much flair a team has if they don't have a natural finisher like Barnes as part of the arsenal.

To be even fairer he called him a coward.

He said "and all you see from him is a cowardly pulling in off the shoulder and ducking his head out of the way.". Mr Burns maintains this is not calling Barnes a coward, and it was discussed and dropped and discussed again and dropped again ad nauseum with El Presidente.

The Irony of that quote may not be lost on a team from North London...

AB has completely upped his game this season so let's see where that takes him (and us)

Get on Ash !

Gary Linekar took stick throughout his career for a lack of pace/technical ability etc but scored goals by the bucketload. Barnes always seems to be in the right place at the right time, is it luck? I think not.

AB is our one-nil away goal specialist - and those are pretty much the most important points a team can earn. Did it a lot last season, and continues to do it in the Champ. I would have to say AB has been the most influential signing of the Gus revolution - can anyone dispute that?

Yep. Bridcutt, Greer and Ankergren would all dispute, i'd imagine.
