Buy a new mattress?!
I am a Mum of four and used mattress protectors when they were young...
...but TBH it should get better in a few days if you can deep clean it, pressing down on the mattress with any fabric cleaner and plenty of water, then choose a sunny day to leave the mattress outside to dry.

My darling son hard an accident when he was asleep 2 nights ago, i have dont everything in my power the past 2 days to get the smell out but i just cant do it, i have tried everything i can think of.
Does anyone have any old wife tales or any other ideas.
Diluted vinegar works, clear is best as it does not stain

only had experience with tom cats pee and cold water with biological soap powder has always done the trick believe me when I say tom cats pee is somewhat stronger than human pee

Another vote for bicarbonate of soda - used this in the car when my neice kindly threw up all over the upholstery a few years ago and it did the job very well.

that will stink AND make your eyes sting but do nothing about the odour.
Proprietry brands of pet odour spray are another option but bicarb will do the staining and help with any smell - way cheaper than a new mattress

Apparently Tomato Ketchup is good for getting rid of the fox scent when dogs have rolled in it so might be worth a try

That made me laugh out loud. As mentioned above I think deep cleaning it with lots of water and letting it dry on a good sunny / windy day.... not like today.

Yes Matt, Ketchup rubbed into the dog fur, leave it for a bit, then wash it off is what the website said
How old is your son? If this is just a phase, new mattress and a rubber mattress protector. If he is a lot older and working, get him to buy the new mattress and ban him from late night drinking!!!!!

My son is 3half, he is dry during the day and most nights just the odd mishap, im not keen on pullups or nappies at night time as dont want him to get dependent on them, i make sure he goes to wee before bed but sometimes he has a mistake, if i can get the smell out il get a protector
