With money to spend or not, I've said since he was appointed that he'd be gone before Christmas. His rep in this country is absolutely shot, and not just with fans - the players will no doubt be aware of the England debacle, his failure at Wolfsburg, the Dutch accent thing. He should have stayed in Holland where he did a bloody good job with a progressive team. Will never understand why he left.

I think he was kidding himself if he thought the Forest board would suddenly find a war chest they'd been denying Billy Davies all along. What did he expect them to do? Find a few million quid down the back of the boardroom sofa?

Sack Billy Davies who got them into playoffs, sell most of their players including strikers Tyson and Earnshaw, offer no money to McLaren and bring in 38 year old George Boeteng.

Visionary board!

I don't think the Forest board or McClaren come of out of this smelling of roses, to be honest.

Feel for the guy.
Wash your mouth out. That foul creature deprived me of a summer of football. I remember hoping (for the first and hopefully last time) that England lost against Israel, so he'd get the sack and we'd get a decent manager in before the tourny. That's how bad he was. But he still held out for the big money payoff.

What a twat. If Forest haven't got any money, then what else are they supposed to do. Tell him to f*ck off. This pretty sums up all that is wrong with bad managers - spend your way out of trouble.

I know what you mean but McLaren would not hve wanted to be managed of an also ran in the Championship and probably wouldn't have taken the job if he had not been promised the resources to challenge for promotion at least. He has managed some big clubs in the last few years, I dount he wants a struggling Forest side in this league on his CV.

this..... He would not have gone without assurances which by the sounds of it have not been forthcoming...... so what are his options?

Stay and fail in the championship
leave (blaming broken promises), with the chance of another job and not having failure at Forest on your CV

He hasn't exactly inherited a team of 'also-rans'. They might have lost a few players but he has recruited a few too. And they kept hold of the likes of Morgan, Moussi,Camp and McGugan! It's not a bad team he has available!

Feel for the guy. Promised funds and all that. Can't blame him.

Is the correct answer. He'll have done a fantastic job if Forest finish halfway up the league with their current squad.

But he looks like being on a hiding to nothing, having had that to spend.

Perhaps McClown (who I feel a bit sorry for nowadays, he doesn't seem a dodgy dealer after all) can sell the brilliant Joel Lynch (yes, someone had to bring his name up), who we have always missed terribly

I think people missing the main point here, here he was appointed and promised things them promises were not meet, so rightly McClaren has the hump, i cant blame him, if he was promised funds and he has not been given them then whats he supposed to do, his been lied to and been at the club 2months already.

People slag McClaren of but his a better manager than people give him credit for.

He's always been a mug. And Forest have well and truely mugged him off. Love it. Gutted McClaren! (even if he had money to spend he'd find a way of f***ing it up anyway).
