Dunk's handball - what was he doing?

I watched the league review and saw a brief moment of Dunk handling a cross in the final minute - but what was he thinking ffs?

He leapt up and seemed to tip it like a goalkeeper, it looked as unnecessary as Elphick's wave at the Bournemouth cross last season.

Anyone get a good look at that? (apart from the ref)

Seemed to me it might have been a rush of blood - though the trajectory of the ball into the box suggested a Pompey head might have got on it if he hadn't. The most well judged 'professional' handball ever? I'm going to say yes in hope of adding to the growing lewis dunk legend.

Not exactly well-judged, since it gave them a penalty!
We did escape with 2 extra points though, as it turned out of course :)

Couldn't see too clearly from the Away end, but did he get booked at all?

Yes he did SSB.

Walking back to my daughter's flat, I heard one comment from a Pompey fan that he thought deliberate handball in the pen area was meant to be a red card. Learn the rules you fecking numpty.

Perhaps he was raising his arms to get extra height on his leap, then realised it was too crowded to safely bring his arm down without elbowing someone,so left it up for his fellow professionals' safety and well being. I am impressed by the young man's sacrifice, putting the health of opponents ahead of a clean sheet and good reputation. Well done, lewis!

It was a shocker, but winning by saving the penalty lead to much better celebrations than we'd have otherwise had. The dancing in the isles brought back north stand terrace celebrations.

It was a mistake which nearly cost us but luckily we got away with it. Overall I think you have to say Dunk has been very, very good. Going to be difficult for El Adb or Elphick to displace him. Has to watch the yellow cards though.

I agree, it was a moment of madness. But Sneaky George is right, the way Dunk has been playing, he has definitely earned his place in the team.

Good job he didn't get booked for it. That would make it three in three wouldn't it ?

Ahem - just a couple of corrections - but the pen was missed, the follow-up was straight to Casper who then saved it.
And I think you mean "dancing in the aisles", as I doubt the rest of the British Isles were celebrating. Although.....maybe!?

I think he thought it would be very funny for Portsmouth to have a penalty in the last minute and then miss it. And he was right.

It was a bit bizarre. And as good as Dunk has been so far, he could easily have cost us 2 points yesterday and been sent off last week, costing us another 3 points. Needs to mature quickly.
