Maybe it's if someone has a really bad rep themselves, their rep doesn't count towards your score - but comments still show up. Just guessing.

yes, that is what I gather from the "reputation" section of the FAQ...hope this helps

It would really be interesting to see who leaves these comments. I think the system would work better if we could do just that. Apparently I am a 'boring nob' for pointing out we have never played Sunderland in a cup game before.

:D
I pointed out to someone that they were referring to a female poster as 'he', so was told 'foot in mouth' and now I turn up to the Amex in a Man Utd shirt...

Post number 73 for people who are confused about neutral rep:

Current parameters...

Everyone starts with 10 points
Administrator's 'power' is the same as any other user (i.e. I've not set it so I can give people +/- 10,000 if I want)
For every 365 number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
For every 1000 number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
For every 100 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
A user must make 100 posts before his reputation hits count on others?
A user have a reputation of at least 10 before his reputation hits count on others?
Each user can give 10 reputation clicks over each 24 hour period?
You must give reputation to at least 20 different before you can hit the same person again.

People who haven't got 100 posts or who have low rep can still rep your posts, but it won't make a difference to you. :)

All still correct other than I think I upped the number of 'reps' you can leave per day to 50.

I've seen this kind of thing in action for many years at CelticsBlog, a Boston Celtics blog. They do it slightly different and posters award each other a point if they feel their post was a good one. They dont award rep points though, they award a "Tommy" point, named after a legendary commentator over there.

Maybe we can have "Wardy" or "Bobby" points.

I have sat and read through the entire thread, and I still dont understand this thing, or why its here.

All I have learned is that I am a JCL with 31 points punk:

Not anymore, apparently you went to the play-off final now and have 2 green pips.

Hold the phone, apparently I went as well but only have 1 green pip to show for it :tantrum:

It's made be arsey with someone more covert.

Now, if you're openly arsey on a thread you risk getting a bad rep.

However, you can now be arsey with someone anonymously through the rep commenting system.

All the kids will find a way of upping each others reps one way or another. The little pale-skinned Nigel's who spend 14 hours a day on the computer in their bedrooms will have a field day.
