Newcastle United hit by fresh Hatem Ben Arfa injury

Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa is out of the Magpies' tour of the United States with an ankle injury.

The 24-year-old was stretchered off the field during the 0-0 draw with Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday.

A club statement said: "[Ben Arfa] will be leaving the club's US tour tomorrow and the injury will be reassessed over the next 48 hours."

I'm sure it won't happen, so nobody panic! But does anyone know if there is a recall clause in KLL's loan contract?

No, as I understand things. Recall clauses can only be used in short-term loans (i.e. loans that are 93 days or less). For a long term loan (i.e. half-season or full-season) it is my understanding that recall clauses cannot be used.

I may be wrong - but that is how things were explained to me.

Nobody knows the ins and outs of his contract - nor should they. I'd presume though that there is no recall clause.

I'm sure this is the case as well...well at least I hope so.

If Kaz does what we know he can do in the champs I want to know:

A) Is there a chance Newcastle can make a U turn (i assume they can as the 'to buy' bit is surely a 'gentlemens agreement'...?) Also he is still their player...

B) If say a lower lg prem club or champs rival came in for him, would we still have first dibs to sign the lad - would a fee have been agreed by Jan etc?

Obviously I don't know for sure, but I cannot believe we would have agreed to deal that could lead to him being recalled.

I'd also think the option to buy is part of the contract.

I doubt we would have agreed to a recall clause, with regards to the "to buy" that's set in stone as long as the player agrees terms if we decide to buy him, they can't change the agreed fee

So it's in the loan deal that we can buy him in Jan first hand - whatever Newcastle might think - im sure they wont change mind etc and they've told the player he can leave and know what he's all about but i'm just checking every avenue...

In that case we've done v well there - if he's OK physically in Jan we'll hopefully just sign him straight up (there's no doubt he'll be successful on the pitch IMO)

Gotta say the first thing that crossed my mind when I read about the Ben Arfa injury was a KLL recall. Where he'll SHINE - and then be lost to us forever

Highly doubt it, Ben Arfa's out until the first 2 weeks of the season, Newcastle can manage for them 2 games.

Ben Arfa's only expected to be out for around a month. On top of that he was being played in the centre by Pardew (who said he considers him more of a threat there) so I wouldn't worry about a possible KLL recall. On top of that since there's a clause for you to purchase him I'm guessing there'll be restrictions on whether we can recall him or not.

Like I say, don't worry about it.

I would imagine, there is no recall clause otherwise there would not be an option to buy clause. Which we will surely take up, provided he does not get injured. The reason the contract is the way it is, is because he failed his medical. KLL is as good as a Brighton player, providing he does not break down, then the "to buy" clause will not be used.
