As alluded to here, it's likely to be the Gland nut letting by.

Remove head, and nip up the hex nut by 1/4 turn. Job done.

Not quite sure if you're trying to be funny or correcting me..?!

If the latter, then you're wrong. No need for water to be turned off..anywhere in fact.

Easiest thing to do is replace the tap. Once the start leaking from the body you can spend ages on it only to find it starts leaking again a few days later. Cheap bath taps are about £15 / pair.
