England have called up J Durnbach for the test against Sri Lanka as a replacement for Anderson. Another bloody saffie!

This is getting just daft.

I hope he is only cover ( although Shazad could have been that) I would play Finn until Breznan is fit again.

It's an odd call really. Shahzad or Onions should really be next in line

Yes. The England selectors are RUBBISH, aren't they? They honestly do not have a CLUE, about spotting players capable of making the step up to Test level. It's no wonder we are doing so very badly at the moment.

Oh.

The message it sends out to young English fast bowlers is if you're good enough you'll get in the squad. Previously there was a tendency to wait until any decent young bowler had been ground down by the county circuit, often by having to chuck pies in 'declaration' bowling', and by the time they got international recognition they were almost beyond redemption.

I'm not too sure what his birth place has got to do with it. There's no law that says all English fast bowlers have to be born in Yorkshire.

I was thinking more of Finn really, hoping that this bloke would not be brought in in front of him....yes you are right, otherwise strauss and prior wouldnt be playing,

Bit of a pointless thread then, because Jay DIRTBAG hasn't been 'brought in ahead of him'. Finn is already in the squad.

I dont think he's that good. Not ahead of Onions, Shazad, Finn or Besnan, or Jon Lewis come to that.

with all due respect, I don't give a flying ....if you think it is a pointless thread. I didn't realise you had the final sanction on what threads could be raised or not.

So you have the inside knowledge of whether finn will play instead of this young saffie then? good for you!
