28 years ago this evening I was in my bed tense with excitment.

I hardly got a wink of sleep.

It really was the dream of every young lad.

What an amazing time.

Believe me this whole town went Albion mad like never before and probably never again. Eery window in every house plastered with Albion posters. police with Albion flags on their bikes . Scarfs tied to every bus. Railway staff with Albion scarfs and hats on. And even Doctors discussing ticket-itis on the front of the Argus.

28 years ago this evening I was in a f***ing furious mood as my Sgt had denied me the next day off even though I had a ticket. Never ever forgiven him. Complete ****

Will never be the same again as the FA Cup means zilch these days in the scheme of things , I guess the equivalent would be now to get promoted to the Premiership or reach the play off final.
Funny how then everyone never cared that we got relegated as the cup final was the be all and end all of the season.

Very good point.

Will never forget that day either. I was only 9 years old. Dad took me to the FA Cup Final. Unfortunately my dad passed away. But it was my dad who introduced me to the Albion when I was about 5 or 6.

Used to stand on a milk crate in the East Stand as I could not see over the side. It was packed and I mean packed. Milk Crates would not be allowed these days due to Health and Safety issues lol. But that was real football. I remember my dad always taking a flask as well and thinking why? How could you drink tea.

Then I used to watch from the South Stand, and then the North Stand which is where I have got my seat at The Amex. North Stand was always buzzing at the Goldestone.

Thank god for that - some other over 35's in the North Stand at the Amex!! We'll show them young 'uns what it's like to create a proper home end!

28 years ago today was my 22nd birthday .It could have been the greatest birhday party ever . Mind you 100,000 people turned up which was quite nice. And I had a betting slip in my pocket for us to win the cup at 66/1. Never mind.

Just in case you have run out of fingers, It's my 50th today.
