Quick chat with his mate Franco Zola, I would think will be enough to ensure the next time Gus sees Upton Park will be when our coach pulls in there next season.

No chance, they have already gone down the route of unproven managers with Zola..they wouldnt try it again.

Plus Im sure Poyet would be on the blower to Zola who would tell him to steer well clear.

It is true, gus will to go West Ham next season................albeit on a Coach and with 20 super seagulls players where he will mastermind a f***ing hammering and leave at 5.30 that same evening on the same coach back to Brighton

Nevertheless, you wonder how these odds are arrived at. I can only assume there is a whisper that Grant will lose his job if they go down and Gus is top of their shopping list. Football's natural pecking order might suggest Poyet would be interested in that job, but things are different this season. We are in the unusual position (for us) of having a new, already sold-out stadium and are in a position of strength to mount a promotion challenge next season, thanks to a team built by Gus and a probable WAR CHEST thanks to all that season ticket money. On the other hand, West Ham have debts and will have to work hard to get their top earners off the wage bill before they can consider rebuilding for a promotion push.

Could be that all they've had is a load of bets from very hopeful West Ham fans thus bringing down the odds ?

or indeed anybody who thinks Poyet is ripe for a bigger job, whilst not being armed with the facts regarding Poyet's current situation.

A market like next manager of a club is so tight that it doesn't take much to see someone backed from 20/1 to 4/1 very quickly. A couple of people sticking £50 on Martin Jol at 20/1 now will see his odds rapidly shorten for the role.

Would Gus REALLY want to affiliate himself with a Vice Chair(wo)man who speaks to the fans in this manner ?

With statements like that it sounds like she wouldn't be out of place on a programme like The Apprentice ...... oh
