It's tougher to forecast players we might be in for due to the style of play we use.

They will need to be players who have decent passing skills whether they be defenders, midfielders or forwards.

With that in mind I wouldn't be surprised if we saw another player from outside England drafted into the squad.

Am I the only one who is not in the least worried about the step up to the championship, I reckon if the squad we have right now was the squad we had next season we'd finish about mid table. There are alot of average teams in the champ who stay there as only 3 can go down per season!

It occurred to me that this league-1 was as difficult as most of the Championship....from the start of the season.
I've changed my mind now though, as I realised we are the best of a pretty average division. We might find we'll struggle without boltering the squad - but there will be some players that do rise to the challenge. Our better players might relish the higher platform - it'll be a show of character for many.

The concept of wholesale changes through the first team is a fallacy - why would we need to do that right away? Look at losing some reserves who won't make the grade, drop 1st-teamers down to the ressies if they don't manage the step up straight off, and of course there are loanees and oldies who we won't keep. That will allow for about 6 new faces maybe? Gus intimated thinning out the numbers too, so if he knows there are some great players available (and who wouldn't want to come to Brighton, now?) then it's a matter of comparing needs vs quality at his disposal.

It won't be free-flowing financially I don't think, so perhaps the only stumbling blocks could be asking prices. That's fair enough though, always going to be the case. Who of our players could we get big money for though? We don't want to sell the ones who are quality enough to fetch a high transfer price!

Danny Graham from Watford. Watford are really short of cash and he's a prolific scorer in The Championship but short of Premiership class.

We don't know what the budget will be, but I wouldn't be surprised if Gus hasn't got one or two overseas players lined up, maybe Spanish or South American, through his contacts; hopefully more like Calderon than Baz and Batti, preferably. Apart from that, I don't think we should be looking at League 1 players (although Mackail-Smith would be handy) - what I'd like to see us doing is looking for players who have helped their team get promoted from the Championship this year, but who aren't likely to feature in the Prem. (same sort of scenario as Ankergren this season).
No idea about names, though.

Other than Kilkenny, who else is out of contact at Leeds, or the Championship is general? As Muzza showed, there are some great players with their contract expiring. That would leave more money for "Marquee" signings.

I'm really excited about who we sign!

Why do people think free transfers are free???.....It just means the money goes straight to the player and agent and not the selling club. The fact that a player is out of contract just means that the clubs interested have a bidding war between them, via the agent bumping up the stakes. A player like Kilkenny in real terms, would still cost a pretty penny. Cant quite see how some people cant get their heads around this.

If we get promoted, I guess we will renew our interest in KLL and Hoskins... didn't Gus also say he wanted Woody to stay longer?

I know this but an out of contract player does not mean that he will cost as much. An example: Cristiano Ronaldo cost Real Madrid £80m, I can assure you that if he had signed for free, that £80m would not have gone straight to Mr. Ronaldo. Sure the player gets a better signing on fee and his wages may be higher but I am not saying that a free transfer is "free" that would be ridiculous.

Positions we need are : Keeper/RB/LB/Striker/Winger (preferably that can play both sides), attacking midfielder (to play behind front 2).

I think we need experience at the back and striker position.

Do you watch the FL Show?!

I do, and I know exactly what you mean, he's made some horrific mistakes as of late, but most times i've seen him play he's been quality. When we went up to London Road the only reason why we didn't win about 7-0 was because of Lewis. Yes he's been poor lately but who's to say he can't turn it around and keep Peterborough from conceeding too many in their run-in.

Koumas and Pratley.....probably completely unrealistic but would be a great partnership in the middle.

London now.
Danny Graham... but not Joe Lewis.. Boro fans are blaming him for many lost points. Maybe when he is more experienced he will become a good keeper but not now.
