iPod Question Part 117,683

I know there have been heaps of these but I haven't seen this one.

Mrs Gwylan has got an iPod and, given the complexity of Apple products, has left me to sort it out for her. I've managed to work out how to copy music over - it must be said, Apple documentation leaves a lot to be desired - but I have one problem I can't crack.

How can you write the names of tracks and artists in so it doesn't appear as Track 1, Track 2 etc? I personally use Real Player copied to a Creative Zen and all you have to do is click on the track and write it in, but that's not possible with iTunes. Is there a way round this?

I thought it was possible?
Left click on the song so that it is highlighted, then left click again on the text 'track one' then you can type over it?
Failing that you can left click and click on get info, and change it there?

Thanks for that. Writing over the highlighted song doesn't work that's what I tried but RIGHT-clicking to Get Info does allow me to change info on CDs that are shop bought. It doesn't, however, work for CDs that are home-copied. It's a thorough pain

if you highlight more than one track you can change artist name and album title on all highlighted tracks.

But the best way is when the cd is loaded onto your pc, use the get track names option its free BUT must be done before its put on the ipod.

to do this in itunes, open the main page, go to advance then add track names/add artwork..

Also a quick tip, if you want to copy the tunes from another ipod google....idump.. its free and will copy all the ipod music onto a pc then you can copy back to any ipod....AND ITS FREEWARE

I have got TuneUp, which is great. There's a trial version which allows you to do about 50(?) songs, then you can pay $20 for a year subscription or $30 for a lifetime subscription (which I have got). It found even the most obscure of my music in seconds.

hi mate

Go into GET INFO when you right click on an album. You can then edit the tracks in there and also get the album cover etc if Genius recognises it.

In fact if you find the album, it may automatically update the track names, but I am not sure about that.
