Just been lookin at croatia and slovenia myself as they look spot on and good weather averaging around 29 deg in summer

Ljubljana is a lovely city: small enough to walk around comfortably, nice bars and restaurants, really friendly people. Tallinn is even more beautiful, although it's a bit of a stag place these days.

Someone else mentioned Budapest, probably my favourite city of all, a wonderful place to visit. I've been there eight times and will be there again this summer - a fantastic place.

All of these are considerably cheaper than Paris or Rome.

cheers for all the info, i think the mrs has her heart set on paris. ive had a look around and found a pretty decent deal, £200 for eurostar and 3 nights at 3* hotel (eurostars panorama) with breakfast.
reviews look decent and location looks good too.

def gonna try some of the other places suggested later this year tho!

I concur with Budapest, a lovely city. We went in the middle of winter with a foot of snow there and the Castle district just looked stunning. Loads to see and do and still relatively cheap.
