Craig Bellamy arrested over Cardiff assault claim

Craig Bellamy has been bailed pending further inquiries, said police Wales and Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy has been arrested by police investigating an alleged assault in Cardiff city centre.

The incident happened in Caroline Street in Cardiff city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

South Wales Police said two men, aged 20 and 26, sustained facial injuries which did not require hospital treatment at the time.

Mr Bellamy, 31, has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Cardiff City FC said it would be inappropriate to comment but the striker would be in the squad for the game at Norwich City on Saturday.

Police have not named Mr Bellamy, who is on loan at Cardiff from Manchester City, but in a statement confirmed a 31-year-old man had been arrested.

When will he learn...

Wasn't he set upon by a few fellas. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them got a clump & went crying to the Old Bill looking for a bit of compo, it is South Wales after all.

This is what was reported yesterday, he walked out of a club and got set on by a group of blokes. Blatantly someone out for a bit of compo

last time it was a girl he slapped and nothing was heard about after the first initial breaking of the news
blokes a little idiot and no sooner he came back to Wales my Mrs said he would be in trouble.

she is always right

From what I heard, someone offered to give him a race up 'chip alley' (a narrow street in Cardiff full of chip shops). It started out as a bit of fun but Bellendamy got the hump. His 'minders' stepped in and gave 2 guys a few slaps, but what they didn't know was that one of the guys was a Police Superintendants son.

The Sun (as per usual) were way off the truth in their report yesterday. I think (and hope) that Bellendamy is looking at eating a bit of porridge on this one
