Don't waste your time with Million Dollar Baby - it's got all the Hollywood cliches and then some more. The script seemed like it had been written by a computer.

But No Country for Old Men and Fargo are both excellent. The latter is the perfect accompaniment to the snowy weather.

Agree 100% with all that. The Wrestler is excellent too.

If possible Truff, Spirited Away is on this morning, BBC2.
It's well worth a look, if only to prove myself and Gwylan wrong.
Although you never know we might be right!.

51, apart from a couple of exceptions they were the ones that everyone seems to have ticked as well.

I'll have to take your word(s) for it for now - I'm not a student and so don't watch daytime TV. (And I don't stop for Xmas until the 24th...)

I thought you might still be at home, prior to work, with access to a video!.

Looking through the list at ones with low percentages that deserve to have been seen by many more people are: Once Upon a Time in the West (best Western ever), Double Indemnity (classy film noir), Dog Day Afternoon, and a little seen Hitchcock film Rope.

There are loads on there that deserve more attention - The Philadephia Story and All About Eve have possibly the best screenplays in the history of Hollywood.

But I'm most surprised fewer than one in three people have seen Inception. I thought I was the only one who missed it...

96, and at least half of them in my collection!

Good to see Die Hard as the current most-seen film from the list on NSC!

It's not as imaginative as Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle and the story's not as complex but it's still beautifully animated

The Casablanca screenplay is up there with the best too.

One film that I staggered is not there is Les Enfants du Paradis, regularly voted the best French film ever and that has probably the best screenplay of any film. I have a copy of it and reads so well on the page - there aren't many screenplays that do that.

There are loads of films I'd like to have seen. I mentioned on a thread a few months ago how I've been itching for a chance to see Seventh Seal and All About Eve but I can't afford to buy DVDs of all the films I want to see and they don't appear on TV any more. The BBC used to be great at showing foreign films and old classics but they've pretty much stopped doing that, which is a great shame.

Am I the only person that hinks Atonement should be in the top 250? Have I just shown myself to be a film spud?

[edit: seems it has 7.9 out of 10 average rating - which puts it just outside the top 250]

Probably the ONE film that surprised me in that lot was How to Train Your Dragon. Dont get me wrong I thought it was OK but nothing special or groundbreaking like a Toy Story or Avatar.
