I have a spare Sky box that I was going to wire up for my garage but will it still receive the free channels even though I am going to cancel my multi room subscription. The old card is still in the box.

Thanks.

Should be ok. you may lose channel 4 & 5 eventually.
I think you can get a card for the free channels for about £30 (one off payment)

Thanks so far...... would I just be able to wire up from a spare point from my dish to my garage then and just get a freeview decoder ? if I bought an HD one would that work. I`m concerned about the cards when they have to be reviewed in the old Sky box.

Freeview uses an aerial. You need a Freesat or sky decoder. And yes HD freesat would work That is what I use. You dont need cards with Freesat.

Freesat is fine, but I thought you wanted to use your old Sky box?

Only for non-subscription channels though. I thought HD might be the way forward after that if I can wire it into existing dish. I`m getting stick from the lads when they come round and footie on the BBC is not in HD.

I dont want to subscribe again R. S. to multi room with Sky.

Does that make sense ?..... I thought not.

Careful, although Freesat will give you HD its normally only BBC1 and ITV1 at present. You wont get the Sky HD channels without some form of subscription.

Perfect sense. You can get free channels on the old sky box, so would cost you nowt, but as you say, not HD.
If you want a price on freesat HD box, Get my number off Geoff.

Channel 4 and 5 will go "free to air" instead of "free to view" in a couple of years or so as there are replacement satellites being launched which will have tightly focussed spot beams to stop viewers picking up a signal in mainland Europe (ex-pats in Spain watching British TV will be f***ed)
