Worthing
It won't be long before I start a serious pitch to the Mrs about finally moving into Brighton. (We are in Worthing Unfortunantly at the moment)
Ideas please for an area of town which is not to hilly and promotes a good community spirit. Schools etc are no longer a consideration.
Ideas please people.

For an area that ticks the boxes you're after John, North Laine is the one area that springs to mind. However, if you're after the same size garden (and house for that matter), forget it.

If it's community spirit, and a same size house and garden, the area between London Road Station and Fiveways, is a good shout. But it's partway up a (gentle) hill.

Hanover has a good community spirit, but is on a pig of a hill.

Is Worthing Unfortunately like Hove Actually?

A lot of variables in your request - not least price (let alone all the things people have mentioned)

what about portslade village (the northern bit) , chav or nice ?

North Portslade (or Upper Portslade, to state a preferred name) is anywhere north of Old Shoreham Rd.. and actually is pretty decent.

Preston Village is flat as a pancake and boasts the Brewery Tap and the loveliest park in Brighton. What more could you possibly ask for?

Avoid Fiveways 'Village' as you would a rabid dog.

Some nice ideas here. Thanks.

A little hammock sized patio would be all the garden needed. I don't expect the huge garden we have here. Parking space would be nice, but not compulsory.

She has her eyes on the North Laines, though likely to be way out of budget. I did notice (snigger) a place almost opposite the Star for sale. Hmm don't think so.

Sadly it will be Worthing Unfortunantly for some time yet! :US:
