Well, one of those nights really... not too bothered by the result but losing Sparrow for 3 games and Nav for what looks like several games is a big blow...

Poke - 4 - Yes the shot was deflected, but get your bloody body behind the ball man!
Whing - 4 - Awful
El Abd - 6 - In the first half, pretty much the only player who turned up
Elphick - 5 - Slipped a couple of times and didnt look composed at all
Painter - 6 - Not his best game
Dicker - 6 - Probably our best player overall
Sparrow - 5 - Never got in the game and the sending off seemed harsh
Battipiedi - 5 - Looked good in first 10 mins and faded badly
Holroyd - 5 - Ran a lot
Hart - 5 - Ran a lot
Baz - 4 - Fell over a lot

Nav - Please don't be a serious injury
Smith - 6 - Was quite industrious
Bennett - 5 - Didnt really threaten although had a lot of the ball

So you think El-Abd played better than Elphick?

Reckon there's any chance he'll be partnering Greer on Saturday?

I'm afraid El-Abd won't start on Saturday as he isn't as good a player as Elphick. Greer will come back into the fold and partner Tommy
Or maybe some on here will ask to recall Tunnicliffe, a player whose team conceded six goals against a newly promoted League 2 team. He's really good because he can pass the ball.

Well, considering last year Poyet said El Abd was the best defender at the club, and he was 100 times better than Elphick tonight, I think there is at least a slight chance you might be wrong there...

We (ME and blueandwhitearmy) haven't seen the first two games but if El-Abd has played better than Tommy, I see no reason why he can't partner Greer at the back.

Whoever it is, I'll be happy :albion1:

I guarantee Tommy starts on Saturday, as he played exceptionally well alongside Greer against Sunderland.

Poke 2 That is 1 for turning up and 1 for having the correct kit. Least said about his performance the better.

Whing 2 Exactly the same as Poke, plus given a run around by an 18 year old making his first start in a game.
Elphick 5 Not one of his better games.
El Abd 6 Did what was expected most of the time
Painter 5 Has played better on most occassions.
Baz 4 Looked completely lost
Sparrow 3 Let him self and his team matews down and is experienced enough to know better.
Battipiedi 5 Good in brief spells but not enough of them.
Dicker 7 MOM for us but even then he wasnt brilliant.
Hart 5 Ran around but offered nothing.
Holroyd 5 Not the worst player on the field but offered no goal threat.

Subs:
Bennett 5 Looked lively when he came on but didnt look like he wouldscore.
Navarro 5 Was begining to influence play when he was injured.
Smith 6 Industrious when he came on and may have made MOM if he had been on longer.

Management: 3 Got this match completely wrong and selected the wrong team, making too many changes, thus putting pressure on the first teamers who were playing.

Spot on. Seven changes? It really backfired on them and whilst hindsight is a wonderful thing this is the sort of thing that is asking for trouble. Keep a winning team and don't lose momentum. Now, instead of going into Saturdays game brimful of confidence they will be apprehensive at best.

Wrong, masterstroke by Gus to show the board that the squad has no depth, and therefore putting pressure on them to sign some players rapido.

I still want my money back though.

Agree with B.G.
When asking for our team suggestions for this match on a recent thread,I said....not too many changes please,as I thought it important that we win the game and also let the 'first team' players continue getting used to each other. If we were cruising to a win, then we could have put a few subs on....imho!
Silver lining on the cloud is that there will be no danger of complacency showing its face amongst the Board and Management.
Looks like we may be favourites for the 'naughty boys discipline cup',again this season;I hope not.God knows how many yellows and a red already!!
