I can't believe anyone is even CONSIDERING playing a team that is different to this one. We need Rooney and Gerrard, two of the best players in the world, playing in their best positions and where they are so effective for their clubs.

If Fabio doesn't at least employ this formation, when almost everybody can see that it is what we need, I will be very disappointed. If we are going to go far in this tournament this is the team we need to play.

Edit: I also agree with everything else you've written, by the way, but hopefully King will be fit. Great post.

Joe Cole's got to come in - bringing on Wright-Phillips was just bizarre, and didn't work in the slightest. Anyone but Carragher's a fair call; I'd go for Dawson, but Upson's solid enough.

Think I'd give Gerrard a go behind Rooney as well.

Who ever you put in if King is out is going to be the scape goat so it doesnt really matter.


Daws would be an obvious gamble due to his lack of experience, but surely these two games are better to blood him that later in the tournament, when nerves will be bigger, as will the competition and pressure?
reckon he would be a good replacement for Ferdinand (and latterly King) because he has pace and is a natural right sided defender, and Carragher struggled big time with pace last night
