This is an age old discussion point and, with the season now over, I thought I would float the idea again.

Should discussion on NSC be split out into a few forums?

The general premise from those in favour, would be to allow Albion discussion to sit away from the other stuff that fills the big board. This approach is common on a lot of similar football boards.

There are a few possible options...

1. Keep as is. It's been like this forever and works.

2. Split The Big Board into 2, being 'Sport' (to include the Albion and Sussex CCC) and 'The Rest'.

3. Split the Big Board into 3 being 'local Sport' (to include the Albion and Sussex CCC), 'Other Sport' and 'The Rest'.

4. Split the Big Board into 3 being 'Football' (to include the Albion), 'Other Sport' and 'The Rest'.

Note: those that like to see everything together could still easily do this by using the 'New Posts' link. This consolidates posts from all sub-forums across NSC.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. No change please.

With a slight caveat, I think a temporary separate World Cup forum might be an idea. Just to keep all the WC stuff together like.

No, no, no, no!

When I first looked at NSC I thought it was a bit weird that everything was on the same board as every other forum I've seen has it all compartmentalised. However, you soon come to realise that having everything in once place makes the forum a FAR better place. The crossover between Off topic and topic is valuable. Plus, let's not forget the fact that a lot of the time there isn't that much to discuss about Brighton, and by splitting it up there's a danger that the football discussion completely stales as the long established posters simple 'chat' on off topic (not a criticism of anyone at all, I just think the social aspect helps to keep the football chat a bit more interesting).

Just to say: I'm not advocating the split, as it were, but it's something that gets discussed from time to time and it seems the right time to canvass opinion again.

As it is please. I'd hate it to look like the BBS.

I would however like to see 'The Big Board' split into Football/Off-topic. I think a format like this would be especially useful as the club increases in popularity with Falmer.

You can almost garantee that if the forum is split when the influx of Falmer Johnny-Come-Latelys :)p) arrive a big divide will form between older members in off topic and hundreds of bland discussions about formations and "Player X v Player Y" topics.

Absolutely not please ! I use a few other forums that have split the topics and it's a nightmare bouncing between the sub forums.

Just to say that if forums were split but you liked the 'single forum view' you could always get this by using this link. So you could store it in your bookmarks etc and always get a single forum view if that is what you wanted.

I like that, but only because it loses the stickys.

What harm do the stickys do Doug? or were you just joking......

They get in the damned way so you have to scroll down. I hardly ever read them either.
