Argus Player of the Season

Comedy genius on the Argus website. Asking for your player of the season, and then only offering four choices - not including either of the top goalscorers, and including El-Abd . It's not April 1st it?

There are only 4 choices because the Argus wants to hand over the trophy to who it feels is their Player of the Season.

I don't really understand why you've only mentioned El-Abd ???

He's been one of our better players this season! Especially under Poyet!!

Because of the defence fliddery that set in across the back-four for the first half of the season - of which he was a large part of. Not that I've seen a single game of course, but it seems wrong that any of the back-four pre-Poyet should be in the reckoning.

Just voted for Elliot Bennett. Played well or at least gave his all in every game this season and will only get better next season. Would have voted Inigo but seems unfair to vote for a player that has only been here half season!

Voted for Inigo as I feel he has been here long enough to be eligible, and has been consistently superb. Plus anything to make him feel more at home.

Didn't the club have a shortlist last year to prevent people doing protest votes?

It seems a bit silly only having 4 choices, especially when one of them is Calderon. I thought the only reason they would do it is to make sure they give the prize to someone who has bee here all season.

In 1BC (Before Calderon) we were shit house in defence and were in the relegation zone. The team were struggling for results, we played terrible football and everyone wanted change.

In 1AD (after December) Calderon came in with Morcos and we looked like an actual football team.

I dont think it is wrong to vote for Calde, otherwise we are rewarding players for being shit for half of their year in the job

Word. I don't buy the idea that a player has to have been here for the whole season. He has been here long enough and in my opinion, along with Painter too actually, has made a HUGE impact on our season.

Inigo has been (firm but) flair since he arrived but I don't think he would have had the platform to do that without Marcos Painter on the other side. If we'd still been wide open on the left Inigo would have been too busy to get flairy up the pitch. So it's hard to say how much of his form is down to the Flairmeister himself and how much to the platform across the back. Always makes it hard to vote for a defender.

PS Haven't decided who to vote for yet - just thinking out loud.

I think The Argus can do whatever it likes to be honest. After all it is THE ARGUS player of the year award...

Out of those names? Croft, closely followed by Bennett.

Close call between Crofts and Bennett for me. Calderon has been quality since he's come in so can't begrudge him a few votes but when Bennett and Crofts have been superb all year I think they deserve it more.

Bennett has 40 odd appearances, 5 goals and 11 assists. Therefore I have voted for him.
