I think they're doomed, as they still have to play Doncaster and Forest away, and Middlesbrough and Newcastle at home.

Your only saving grace is they still have to play Watford and Peterborough.

Ah, Plymouth v Newcastle, a nice local derby. Good story about some Newcastle fans in the Observer today: not wanting to muck about with trains, a few of them booked flights instead when they played away at Bristol City earlier this season. Unfortunately they only paid attention to the departure time of the return sector, not the time you have to check in (2 hours prior) and thus all had to leave the game at half time, with the Mags 2-0 down, in order to make it to the airport in time to get checked in and board. Newcastle went on to get a draw too. Shame these fans missed that

We need Wednesday to start picking up points now. If Watford win on Tuesday they are 7 points above Palace with a game in hand and realistically it will mean Wednesday are the only team Palace can catch.
QUOTE]

Last game of the season Sheffield W V Palace, mind you could be a meaningless fixture....I hope

Meanwhile, in the Premier League, Portsmouth could become the first team in the PL or FL to be officially relegated next week, if results don't go their way.

I'm very, very sad about that :lolol: :clap2:

I like you Edna. All your posts are eminently sensible and your loathing of PFC further confirms it. If you'll allow me to indulge in a little trip down memory lane a few years back the Mays family were on their way westward for a family holiday. Making good time on the M27 the floodlights of Fratton Park were visible to the left when Mays Jnr (who was about 5 at the time) piped up from the back seat "oooerr - what's that terrible smell". "I'm afraid that's Fratton Park son" I told him. I thought it was time he learnt one of life's harsh lessons.

I too will have a beer or two to celebrate when relegation is finally confirmed.
Do they still put that white block on the table on Grandstand once it's mathematically certain? If so could you post a graphic of it on here for me?

I do hope they are, Edna.

I have to go down to Fratton next Sunday to pick my daughter and grandson up.
Spray paint cans will be in the boot ready.

Quick edit to the above: I should of course refer to Pompey by their correct title of "Plucky Pompey" or "Brave Pompey" as they are universally known by the Premier-League-obsessed media these days, further making reference to their Great Fans who are the most Long Suffering in the entire league.

And completely ignoring the fact that they are in their position because of their own gross mismanagement (many would say cheating) and that they probably would have been relegated anyway, regardless of the points deduction.

I'm only disappointed we won't be playing them next season. But Palace will do as a substitute

Really?

May I make a suggestion as to your attire for the occasion?

Unfortunately, I think it'll have to be a week later.
Can't see Wet Sham winning at Goodison on Sunday.

In keeping with the bookies paying out on events before they have happened , can I just say that I am already really enjoying the Palarse Relegation party. In fact it is so good that i am about to start it as an open thread and you can all join in.
Have some beer and wine plus the odd spirit in but feel free to BYOB.

Could be a cracking, schadenfreude-filled end to the season, bearing in mind we won't be going up or down.

No Grandstand! That's terrible. What to the BBC show on Saturday afternoons these days then? The next thing you'll tell me will be that fun loving chubby Scouser Keith Chegwin doesn't do roadshows from leisure centres and the like on Saturday mornings anymore.
