Oh, I'm not foolish enough to want to play them I'm not into being humiliated by young children.
I'll play them at chess, I'm safe in the knowledge that they won't beat me at that, and I'll stay away from anything electronic.
Thought the control system was a bit strange but now I've got the hang of it it's actually very logical. Absolutely addicted to it now - only issue I have is getting the kids off the Wii so I can play it.
To be honest Gwylan, you WILL. That in a nutshell is the very eauty of the Wii, over the other consoles. Those SMUG adverts featuring the Redknapp family all playing it together, and that are actually spot on. It really is so simple, that even grown-ups can get to grips with it, and it is actually FUN.
I seriously don't like the PlayStation. My kids have one, and I just can't get on with it - press 'circle' to kick it, press 'square' to tackle, etc. My brain doesn't work like that, so I just end up pressing all the buttons as fast as possible. With the Wii its all much more intuitive. To play a golf shot, you swing your [imaginary golf] club, to hit a tennis ball, you play your tennis shot. Highly recommend the thing for anyone with nippers.

OK, I've bought a Wii - the question is. What the hell are all these other options? What's the difference between a nunchuk and a remote controller? And all the other add-ons - what are they all for?

You need to remember the wii is 'the first interactive games console'.
Well that's how they sold it.
Instead of just sitting there giving your thumbs a good workout, you have to get involved.
To that ends, you now have most (at some point you'll be getting a Wii fit & balance board, we didn't tell you that
) of the hand held attachments, so you can move with the game.Each game will say what you need before it begins. So if you have Wii sports select the boxing and it will tell you to connect the nunchuk, so within the game you will be able to 'punch' with both hands.
It's worse when a 3 year old beats you at bowling and then spends the rest of the day chanting "LOSER" and making the L sign
But very satisfying when your girlfriend gives it the large on Wii bowling and you OWN HER!

I can hear the kids playing on it now - they're well into it.
The only thing that bugs me is that amount of accessories that the games seem to need. And I was a bit pissed off to buy a second remote control only to discover that it didn't come with the motion sensor that we need to play the sports games. I think Nintendo could do a lot better with their explanations as to what's needed.
I've not played any games on yet although Mrs Gwylan seems to be well into it.
I have ordered the Ashes game though, that might get me playing.
