I found the Beacon half-marathon thread interesting, and I know there are a lot of you doing these two full marathons so I thought I'd start up a general thread which we can hopefully keep going, at least, until the big day(s).

So, how is it for you so far? I shamefully missed today's/this week's long run as I got sozzled after yesterday's home victory. Luckily it was a 'short' one of 13 miles so I will attempt it tomorrow morning.

I've got the Thanet 20 this coming Sunday. Looking forward to that. Oh, and I need some new trainers very shortly. Got a hole developing in my current pair.

Anyway, good luck and please post your training tales.

I'm running the Brighton marathon and also missed my long run this weekend but preious to this things have been going well.
I ran the half marathon last weekend in 1 hour 41 min which I was well pleased with. I havem' run over 14 miles yet so I need to up my distances on the next few weeks. I'm curently running 3 times during the week between 6 and 8 miles and then one long run at weekends. Finding it difficult to go off slower than my normal pace but apart from that I'm happy with my training.

I ran the Meon Valley plod today. 20.6 miler all cross country. Really muddy & very wet underfoot. But hey another long run completed.

Steyning Stinger marathon next Sunday.

This will be my second marathon of 2010 which should put me in good stead for Brighton

3 marathons before the end of April....hard core.

I need to time some of my runs. I've spent most of training just building up my endurance. My last marathon pace was 7.7 minute mile-ing. I want to get this down to 7.44 and do 3:15.

Also, if anyone knows of a 22m run on 4/4/10, a 18m on 11/4/10 or a half on 18/4/10 please say so. I've perused Runners World but no found anything local. I wonder if there are any smaller runs which are not on their database.

afraid there's no place for people who run such obscene times on this board (under 8 mins is impressive for 26 miles) - where are the 10 minute milers??

I've managed to drop my pace for the long runs but still haven't found a way of stopping the tips of my toes from bruising/soreness. Trainers aren't too small, it's just that my feet push to the front of the shoes when running downhill. I've got the right trainers according to Sam in the Jog Shop

Bruised toes is, in general, an occupational hazard I'm afraid. File in the same category as blisters. My toes and nails are not in the best of shape...or colour, since I stepped up my running. The Jog Shop guys know their stuff so I'm sure you're doing everything you can to minimise the issue.

10 minute miler here!! Or thereabouts. 1h.56m.41s for half marathon. Doing Hastings in 3 weeks. Just a 5.5m run this evening - need to start building that up soon.

I'm doing Hastings. One of my favourite halfs. The horse brass medal is amusing as well.

I did 18 miles last week (slowly) and was near death ! took about 3hrs 10 mins - a few weeks ago did 16 in 2hrs 30. My times are all over the place - trying to run steady 9 min miles. I would love to do a sub 4hr marathon but blew up at about 17 miles last time. I am down for the spitfire 20 - should give me a realistic view if sub 4 hr is possible.

That is very good.I am hoping to go under 4 hours for the marathon.I think it will be close.
