Yes thank you, but that thread is more speculation where as the link I have posted, as good as confirms that the deal has been done. Especially seeing as yesterday Poyet commented to say that it was not definitive.

We have just got rid of dickinson and tunnicliffe who i imagine will both be on pretty high wages, surely we can afford this guy till the end of the season?

the surprise is that the Mirror have been so accurate lately - their hit rate at around 30% of transfer gossip being correct puts them bottom of the league among the dailies.........I will wait until it happens.

Vine is not a prolific scorer but gives the "something different" that managers always comment on in that he is a neat and tidy player who makes opportunities for others and is a good foil for the second striker. He was fairly nippy (not sure if he still is after a bad broken leg). Given the choice of Dickinson or Vine I reckon I would have to toss a coin. If he is fit then okay but QPR fans' reports suggest he is overweight..........?

Doesn't appear to be the same player since his nasty leg break.
Q.P.R.can't really lose if he comes to us on loan..they save his wages and he gets match -fit...or not.
We've had so many loanees over the years,I tend to get a bit blase and disinterested.Oh well, give him a go and see what happens.Still can't help thinking we should have kept Dicko and worked with him.It all suggests Gus just wants shot;I wonder if Vine will prove any better in the short or longer term?

^ It's just the same original article though (as is the one in the OP), published yesterday. Poyet has since come out and said there has been no contact, whilst not completely ruling it out. There has been no progression on that, I don't think - so we'll just have to wait and see.

Personally I'm fairly content with Murray, Forster & Holroyd - though we've been fairly lucky with injuries this season. If our luck takes a turn for the worse* we may well be needing another striker (I know we have Hart) - and Rowan would be a decent option.

*NB I have an awful vision of Forster suffering a long-term injury on his first game back for us. Which would just be awfully typical of the whole situation.

I think that it is likely that we will bring in somebody to replace Dickenson because our bench is not eaxactly brimming with goal scoring options should out first choice fail in a match.
