Did you get the email I sent about Ecuador? Have you been and gone? If so, where did you go?

No I didn´t. I may have missed it as have only checked it every few weeks. I´ll have a look in a sec.

And yes, have been and gone to Ecuador, went to Quito, Cuenca and the Galapagos. Liked it but it was hard work compared to some of the other countries, especially in Quito. From speaking to people there it has changed quite a bit in the last few years and is now quite a dangerous place. Still a good place to see though.

Argentina has been by far and away the best place so far.

Santiago - a shithole, I hope not commander, as it's on my list to visit as part of a 8 month trip through South America. Also on the list is Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca. As I travel with expensive camera equipment, I would hate to be looking over my shoulder the whole time. Lonely Planet pretty much says the same thing about Ecuador/Peru/Bolivia etc becoming more dangerous. Any tips on Argentina

Afraid so, rubbish city. Quito is OK, if a little edgy, Guayaquil is like any big, dirty city, Cuenca is lovely. Peru, and especially Bolivia, both felt much safer than Equador. Argentina is fantastic, Chile is ok but really expensive, at least twice as expensive as Argentina.

You don´t need any tips on Argentina, just go to any city, eat the steak and stare at the women. Easy. You cant go wrong.

Re the expensive camera equipment, you definitely need to be looking over your shoulder a bit, especially in Equador. Saying that, the only place where anyone has actually tried to rob us is Chile.

I loved Santiago... preferred it to Buenos Aries.

Well you are a fool then, Timothy.

I will be in your neck of the woods in early April if you fancy a beer or two.
