ever get in the league i reckomn the albions support will soon start to fall rapidly - could this be the kick up the backside those buffoons need?

Considerably doubt many of the players (presumably the 'buffoons' you were referring to) give a shit about what happens to the club, although I'd imagine those ones are the ones that won't be around much longer.

It would certainly be a kick up the arse to Bloom and those 'behind the scenes' as it were, but as somebody has already pointed out on this thread, the attendance of the Sussex DERBY was a mere 979, which is pretty shocking in all honesty. Thankfully I don't think either team will be in the football league anytime soon unless they have a huge takeover, which fortunately enough I think won't happen.

I think if Crawley ever got into the league it would be more likely to affect Palace's support than ours.

The population of Crawley is about 80,000 and only 1000 go to every game, I think this is because a lot of people who live in Crawley are from London and support Aresnal and Chelsea, it's a shame.

Brighton arnt as good either with a town of 300,000 only 6,000 go to the games. The seagulls and the red devils aren't excactly rivals so come along it's very cheap. :)

The population of Brighton & Hove according to wikipedia is 256,500. However the conurbation is some 400,000. Sadly this city has never been & never will be a footballing hotbed. Remember we never once had a sell out for a league game at the Goldstone when we were in the top flight.

We are no different to any other seaside town in the country. No other seaside town/city in the UK supports large crowds or decent football teams, aka Bournemouth, Torquay, Blackpool, Southend etc. We may have the population but a lot of people retire to the coast or have a wider choice of activities.

The only places by the sea that have the support & better teams tend to be ports aka Portsmouth, Southampton, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sunderland etc

Do you honestly think all Brighton's fans come from Brighton? Its a Sussex team.

The only club on your list I would take exception to is Blackpool, who of course had the likes of Stanley Matthews and Jimmy Armfield playing for them and were for a long time one of the leading clubs in the country. Blackpool are right on the way back up, and Bloomfield Road is being redeveloped, though it has a Withdean-like stand known up there as the Gene Kelly Stand. However, it is as much an old industrial town as a sea resort. I remember Fred Dibnah finally agreed to take his family on holiday (to Blackpool), but had secretly agreed to blow up a chimney. Without the sea, Blackpool looked just like Bolton or Oldham.

I could have gone to the Crawley game instead I went to the Albion game :(

Sussex football on the way up!

Defiently, espically as Whitehawk will be in the Ryman South next season. Could be a quite a few Sussex teams in that League next season if YM' stay up, and Eastbourne Town:thumbsup:.

Worthing are currently 2nd, so could still go up, as could Burgess Hill.

The Hill beat Worthing 3-1 on Boxing Day, it's a shame the return fixture is on 2nd Jan as I may have gone to watch, but it appears I'll be in Torquay instead.

Nice avatar Darren, you got a pair?

Historically, Brighton is far more of an industrial town than Blackpool ever was. The carriage works employed a lot of people and built a lot of locomotives. The terraced houses of so-called North Laine and the New England Quarter were built to house the work force. Until the late 70s there were a lot of factory jobs in Btn, Portslade and Shoreham.

Anyway you don't need industry to support a football club. It's an old-fashioned British idea. Amsterdam and Brugge are sucessful football cities with little industry.

Sussex might not be a football hotbed but it produces more footballers than many other counties.

No-one reads any of your posts because you always have caps on and it's hideously annoying.
