The Who are the half-time entertainment at the Superbowl 2010 which is a very prestigious honour however the moral Americans are making a huge protest due to his conviction for downloading child porn and being put on the sex register list for 5 years and want the Who banned from the event.

So the moral question for Christmas Eve is should he be allowed to play or not ?

When is his book coming out? Going to knock Harry Potter off the top of the best sellers list that's for sure.

Most Americans will only know The Who for the CSI theme tunes.

The NFL’s executive vice-president, Joe Brown, noted in a letter to Mr Daly that Townshend was never criminally charged and that he had accessed child pornography online only as part of a “research project”.

Just shows you how stupid the Americans are. Same with when the burnt all the Beatles stuff. Still We won't be fooled again.

Made me laugh as I heard that The Who were chosen as they did not want a 'Risky' act like Janet 'breast out' Jackson, so booked The Who........wow Rock and Roll............25 million dollars aint bad money though for 20 mins work

I love the who, but townshend is a f***ing nonce, end of story, nobody has child porn pictures because they were 'curious' or for 'research'he should be a pariah in my opinion.

PT was not actually "convicted" of a crime;

"As part of the Operation Ore investigations, Townshend was cautioned by the police in 2003 after acknowledging a credit card access in 1999 to the Landslide website alleged to advertise child pornography.[25][26][27] He stated in the press and on his website that he had been engaged in research for A Different Bomb (a now-abandoned book based on an anti-child pornography essay published on his website in January 2002) and his autobiography, and as part of a campaign against child pornography.[28] The police searched his house and confiscated 14 computers and other materials, and after a four-month forensic investigation confirmed that they had found no evidence of child abuse images. Consequently, the police offered a caution rather than pressing charges, issuing a statement: "After four months of investigation by officers from Scotland Yard's child protection group, it was established that Mr Townshend was not in possession of any downloaded child abuse images." In a statement issued by his solicitor, Townshend said, "I accept that I was wrong to access this site, and that by doing so, I broke the law, and I have accepted the caution that the police have given me."[29] As a statutory consequence of accepting the caution, Townshend was entered on the Violent and Sex Offender Register for five years.[30][31]"

It's suspect, to be associated with any payment to a kiddy-porn related site - but the above was garnered from wikipedia, anyway.

As for the Superbowl thing, that is a pointless exercise anyway as the sound is shit and it's a hurried shabby affair.

Not bad pay then of $25 Million for a pointless exercise

During the Superbowl, they play adverts that cultivate mega-millions for the tv station/s. The ads themselves cost huge amounts that could finance whole countries, and sometimes feature top stars and latest technology in effects and camerawork.

Yes, The WHO are what they would consider a worthy attraction - and note that many people who don't give a hoot for the game - or the teams taking part - will watch the Superbowl just for 'the party' involved.
