Some of you may recall (the sad ones!) that Giraffe's Son received three gerbils last Christmas. He named them Brighton, Hove and Albion.

Sadly I have to report that Hove appears to have had a stroke and is walking in a very lopsided manner. The poor little fella may not last the night.

Advice welcome.

Don't flush it, the fur causes mayhem with the drains.

A shoebox will do fine.

1. Attach him to a spare rocket.
2. Light blue touchpaper.
3. Retire to a safe distance.

Giraffe's Son has already identified a suitable blue and white shoebox. A weekend garden funeral is looking likely.

According to Wiki:

"A problem with the inner ear can be spotted by a gerbil leaning to one side quite obviously. The fluids in the ears affect balance. However, this does not appear to affect the gerbils too much, which have an aptitude of just getting on with things, and getting used to their conditions."

4. Quickly extinguish rocket.

For those of you worried, when I left home this morning the little fella was hanging in there and seemed fairly lively, although still unbalanced. And blood has appeared from somewhere down from his left ear.

I will report later.

I would say that Hove (the Gerbil) has moved even closer to being an exact description of the place. I would not worry.

Oi! Shut it, you fackin' Cockerny joker!!

ps Best wishes to the furry lil' Hovsta btw. Deffo a visit to the vet's is in order (I'd have thought). Here's hoping for a good news boost soon Mr G.

Yep, suggested that to the wife (I can't take him as need to work), but she resisted on the grounds that in her childhood someway in the past she remembers being told by a vet that there is nothing you can do for animals this small.

We agreed to see if he recovered over the weekend. If not then the vets on Monday, or the garden if he dies before.
