iPod Help please

its not just the hardware, its the whole package including the software and integration with other systems and processes.

ipod + itunes + mac = seamless

add in an iphone, macbook pro and mobileme subscription and it gets even better

Yes its more expensive but you get what you pay for. I would add that Apple customer Service is tops here in NYC

I use a nice 20gb made in china mp3 player that plays over 30 formats and has radio, voice recorder, and a few other things (not that I use them) and the great thing is it is built like a thumbdrive, all it requires is a USB port and the battery life is superb. No stupid software like iTunes required, no restrictions on moving your OWN files, easy. I've owned a 60 or 80 gb iPod a few years back and it drove me insane.

how is itunes "stupid" ? one stop shop for music, tv, video, podcasts etc.... intuitive software that syncs my ipods and iphones in seconds and also brings photos, contacts and memos across. Im not bashing the alternatives, just saying that the ipod + itnues meets or exceeds all my wants and needs

and based on Apple's record profits, a fair share of the world agrees with me

huge space is'nt eveything, my 16gb has an SDHC card slot so can hold an extra 32gb and thats plenty for me, plus its got FM & DAB radio, high quality Sound (which is obviously the best part) and a few other extra things....main thing is its 10x better than the nearest iPod.

iPods are "trendy" because Apple can afford to throw huge marketing campaigns to the mass bewildered day-to-day people who know nothing of Sound Quality only Fashion...and congrats to Apple for getting that market their own. Gradually it seems their devices are getting better, but they still have a long way to go to be up there with the best MP3 players on the market.

also, the majority of people use thier ipods while sitting on the bus or at the gym so i assume sound quality is not the most important factor - rather the portability of music. Finally, what is so wrong with following a particular fashion ?

I don't need a program to organise my music. I was doing it my own way before iTunes. If it works for you, great, but I like my media players lightweight, foobar[for audio] and vlc[for video]. iTunes runs better on mac, but my experiences on windows were hours of frustration. I really wish they would given iPod users more freedom in moving their files to and from.
