That was my first attendance this year and i wasn't suprised at the outcome of the game.
Things that were obviously poor today.
1) El-Abd at left back - He had no chance. Surely there must be a left back at the club other than mcnulty.
2) No left sided midfielder - We were left massively exposed down the left and el-abd had no chance.
3) the ability to break from back to front quickly - The midfield was so slow and the build up play was so deliberate that we rarely had the opportunity to turn them round in a flash.
4) Service to Elliot Bennett - With a player of his pace and quality in the side you get the ball to him quickly. 2nd half he was merely a spectator for much of the time through no fault of his own, he simply wasn't fed the ball nearly enough.
5) Dickinsons efforts were poor - It seems obvious to me that he is mostly all mouth and no action. He gets a lot of the ball and rarely did anything other than give it away or moan at the ref. For me, a disgraceful effort!
6) Our midfield fielded 3 similar players - Whilst i though Dicker was decent the other two were slow and hugely ineffective. Between them they had no pace or any quality to drive into the oppositions box.
7) Slades after match comments - Whilst i agreed with the majority of what he said there has to come a time when excuses wear thin and results count for everything.
My marks out of ten would be as follows:
Kuipers - was always thinking he might do something daft - 3
Hoyte - Dint do a lot wrong - 5
el -abd - Not a left back - 4
virgo - Cumbersome, clumsy player - 4
Elphick - lacks ability but has heart - 4
dicker - creative, worked hard - 6
Navarro - Slow, innefective, didn't notice him - 3
Crofts - should have covered the left side more - 4
Bennett - tried hard and wanted to see the ball more often - 6
Dickinson - moaned, lacked quality, gregan(fat centre back) had an easy day -3
Forster - Worked hard to make things happen - 6
