Office temperatures - what is the law?

soppy old office workers, ive worked in those temps on a mezzie floor , complain to your manager or go and see the local health and safety authority they will make things happen believe me!!

Yeah right ile go complain to my manager tonight in his nice air con cooled office and wait for the well if you dont like it f*** off tay reply.

There is no upper limit - but if it drops below 16 degrees centigrade you'd be quite within your rights to go home :)

I can confirm this.. a few years ago I was having to cope with 30C with NO windows and the aircon had packed up, looked in to it to be told there is no maximum only a minimum and even then it's the company's obligation to give you warm jackets/fleeces/gloves etc.

Otherwise no one would work in a coldstore and how would we make steel without a blast furnace ?

its amaing innit, we put a man on the moon 50 years ago yet we cant design an air-con system that doesnt freeze us in the winter or plain not work in the summer. problem is, i think, too many temperature controls and the actual units themselves being hundreds of meters away.

It's 16degrees. The day they change the law to set a Maximum, is the day I move into the Air Con business, and give up on believeing we can avoid the world burning up into a wasteland.

lightweight , why not try knocking a new 2.5 metre wide opening in an old stone and lime mortar building that faces south , just north of the downs with not a breath of wind . 30 degrees pah i laid a thermometer on the scaffold (tower and wobbly as f***!)and after 10 mins it read a shade over 40 in the sun , but so am i . not only that the lime dust is nice to breath , the wasps are a bit angry and so are the horse flys , just do yer fuckin job

surely if i am in the sun and so is said thermometer that is the temp i am working in , no shade from 9.30 till i leave at 5 pm

Temp in the sun just depends on the colour of the object in question, that's why they always give shade temps... No disagreeing with your point though :)
