Completed ride in 6 hours however took 3 hours to do 18 miles in London, once south of M25 roads opened up nicely. Saw the lad in the old sandtex shirt and Gwylan just north of Lingfield not that I said hello to them though.

i left a 9.30 took 2.5 hours to do 20 miles, got jammed up on a few hills, completed it in 4 hours 36 mins and rode up ditchling beacon, which i am proud of because i was knackered after 45 miles, my first time and i loved it

Despite only having one fully-functioning lung, I've made it a resolution that I WILL do this next year.

Anyone know when they start accepting applications for 2010? I looked on the BHF website but couldn't see anything.

March 1st mate, can do it all online now

According to the announcer at the finishing line, they're changing the system. It filled up so quickly that people without Internet access couldn't get on.
So, it sounds like it's back to postal next year

As said on another thread, a mate of mine did it with a group of eight last year, none of whom entered, they just joined the race in London. The benefits:
- you get to choose who you give your sponsorship money to. The BHF stranglehold isn't really fair, and I know a few who entered officially this year who'd rather their money went to charities of their choosing and not be forced to give it to the BHF (appreciate they do the organisation but there must be a case for a different charity to do this each year).
- you get to choose your start time.
- you still get a medal at the end.

Of course I'm not saying it's the right thing to do.

I'm puzzed here, first you say it's not fair, then admit they do all the organising.

secondly if you want to raise money doing the ride, no-one from the BHF is coming knocking on your door if you decide to give it all to the cats home.

if your 'few' want to give to a charity of their choice then why not enter an event ORGANISED by their charity, simples

You don't have to raise money for the BHF anyway. Once you've paid your entrance fee to them than that your fund raising obligation to them over. My friend was raising money for Classrooms in Cambodia for example.

Doing my first L2B ride Sunday, we have got 9.30am start time so not looking forward start................

Good luck with that, I always went for a 6.30am start time anything later results in some serious bottlenecks.
