Anyone else experiencing problems with this? keeps going into standby, was happening occasionally but now every bloody 10 minutes

rung Sky the other day and after half an hour of speaking to someone in India was told nothing can be done as the warranty has expired on the box, would be £60 for an engineer to come out, which considering I pay them £48 a month i am reluctant to do. have emailed but no one has replied, any suggestions?!

The joke is that they insisted i upgraded to this box, shouldnt have bloody bothered!

Is the autostandby switched on? (services > sky+ set up) Doesn't sound like the issue is that it's on, but maybe turning off will counteract whatever the fault is.

I have my satellite covered by a company called satellite direct which costs £5 per month and they have replaced my digibox in 1 room and the sky + box.

If you took out a policy with these people once you have paid the first premium you are eligible for any replacement box or service having spent just £5. Total cost for a year is £60 which ls less than Sky have quoted you for an engineer to attend.

That was the problem that I had. Kept turning itself off and in the process screwing up all my planned recordings.

Model number: A2S020609

Version: 4F2112

?

There was a recent software upgrade which was buggy and it was then rolled back to the previous version but this has now been re-installed and is still causing problems.

One possible solution, not 100% guaranteed it will fix it though, is to re-format your box (Services, Press 4, then Press 01 then Select).

Unfortunatley you will lose all recorded programmes in the planner but it may fix the problem.

If this doesn't fix the box then call Sky and ask to be put through to Cancellations and tell them you want to cancel as it is pointless having a digibox that doesn't work correctly. Sky should then arrange a free call-out and you will get a replacement box. (Hopefully not an Amstrad again)

Press Services, then System Setup (number 4), then type 01 on the remote before pressing Select and it will take you to a secret menu. (Sky would charge you £60 for an engineer to come do that).

Turning off in the middle of trying to do it! I guess im gonna lose all my saved stufff anyway if they replace the box?

Did it say 'housekeeping', if so then it should automatically turn itself off and then will reboot itself to standby. I'd leave it for about 3 minutes on standby before pressing Sky on the remote.

Yes, unfortunatley all programmes in the planner will be erased and can't be transfered to a new digibox. (a right pain in the arse)
