Bit off topic this but the BBC is reporting that the RSC's Hamlet is going to be on telly.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8072814.stm

As one of the many people who saw an understudy play Hamlet when I saw this production, I'm delighted that the BBC is giving us a chance to see Tennant play the part too, Edward Bennett (the understudy) was very good but it wasn't quite the same.

I know it's not as good as seeing him on stage but this has quite cheered me up this morning - although I'm sure my enthusiasm is shared by about 0.5% of NSCers.

I've never been a big fan of his eye-rolling and rather self-satisfiedly unfunny Dr Who portrayal tbh, so I'll check this out to see what he's got in his locker.

Put me in that 0.5%.

Maybe it's 1.5% :lolol:

For any other Shakespeare fans - the production of All's Well that End's Well at the National that opened last night is fantastic. It's a rarely performed play but you won't see many better interpretations.

I think he's brilliant as the Doctor, and I'll be watching this as I think it'll be a good opportunity to see him doing something else, showing a bit of versatility.

I've seen Tennant three times on stage in some very different roles (as Romeo, Antipholus of Syracuse and as the lead in The Pillowman). He was very good in all of them - and a particularly fine Romeo.

I can see what MoH means about Dr Who - I do enjoy his performances but sometimes they are a bit over-the-top.

His Hamlet is meant to be the dog's bollocks though so I was gutted to miss it.
