I am surprised that clubs don't already have such rules. Footballers, especially at the top-level, have strictly controlled diets. Alcohol is packed full of calories and causes dehydration. Surely this is a 'no brainer' as my old CEO would say.

A couple of beers after a game is one thing, but these guys are professionals.

I dont see wats wrong with having a night out after a game if they havent got training the next day, but Im pretty sure that most clubs will have a ban on drinking the night before training/matches

should be in their contracts that they get heavily fined for failing to set a good example both on and off the pitch....these guys earn more in a week than most do in years and can seriously influence the behaviour of (in particular) young people.....they should do more to earn their wedge, including working in the community, than just play football for 90 minutes
