Well done to Peter Taylor. I have hell of a lot of respect for this man.

It was close though , same points , 1 extra on goal difference.

It depends on whether he is off on his holidays. I would guess it is unlikely he will come down.

Also my plan of getting Slade to come is blown as he is off the Cornwall on Tuesday.

He took Pullis's team up at Gillingham and Adams team up in 2001. In between, he was found out at Leicester when he blew a budget the size of the African debt. Rather than try to Keep The Albion in the (old) second division, he bottled it so as not to blot his C.V., eventually taking an easy gig at Hull when they were in the bottom division and splashing the cash.

Respect has to be earnt. Peter taylor hasn't earnt mine. Taking Wycombe up from the basement division is hardly Earth shattering.

N. He told Dick Knight what budget was needed to stay in the Championship.

It was not forthcoming and he left immediately allowing Knight 3 months to find a new manager before the next season. Also he did not have a new job lined up.

After his record at Leicester and some of his dubious signings at The Albion, I think Knight was wise not to trust him with the purse.

Dubious signings ?. He won us the league title and had the best record of any Albion manager in the history of the club.

I'd go with that too, and you didn't even mention his times at Southed & palace where he managed to lose his 'hero' status.

As for good signings, well who? Junior lewis maybe, but wasn't he just loan? Danial Webb from Southend reserves and that winger from orient reserves, teams in a division below us.

I never liked the guy, but getting Wycombe promoted from league 2 is a quality achievement, well played to the guy and I look forward to his return to the Withdean next season. :ascarf:

Hardly a legend, but he deserves more respect than he is being shown. Junior Lewis was CLASS aswell, or did you never see him play?

Lewis was class but he was just about the only signing that added to the squad of players that taylor inherited.

many a game we settled once we had the lead and that led to a fair number of times we let 2 goal leads go. He didn't seem to have the balls to let the team loose and demolish teams. He introduced fear and self doubt hwere Af=dams had built a team of winners.

I can only recall 2 good wins under taylor, at ASshton Gate and against Reading at Withers. For the Reading game he actually had the balls to drop some senior players that needed droping, I hoped he'd kick on frrom there.

I'm sure he's a nice bloke and a very good coach but, when the going get's tough he goes.

2 promotions with Hull as well and it's bollocks he was found out at Leicester, they sacked him 6 games into the season and we were the beneficeries. The only Brighton manager who's been found out recently is Adams who is not half the manager Taylor is. Should have gone for him instead of Adams 2nd time around..

Who gives a shit ?.

At the time we were used to winning by more than a 1 goal margin as proved by the previous couple of seasons. We used to take the lead and then play in a style that wouldn't let us concede an equaliser instead of going for a 2nd which to some would be seen as unattractive football.
