Despite the opinions of some know it all's, it seems to me that the legend that is Gary Hart DOES still has the legs for it and has come back from his lay off not just fast but with a renewed talent. His contribution over the last 6 games has been immense and, without him, I don't think we'd be looking at tomorrows game the same way!
So,I was just wondering; all the people who flooded this board with derogatory comments about the age, ability and even the legs of OGH just a few months back......have you got what it takes to stand up and admit you got it wrong. Maybe even apologise (to him that is)for writing him off......?
We'll see....
Come on you Seagulls!!!!!!

To be fair, people's judgements were based on the fact that we've seen little of note from him since about 2004, apart from a few frustrated substitute appearances where he came on, ran around getting worked up, kicked somebody, got booked, and then the game ended.

If people had been targeting him for no reason, fair enough, but they were only stating what they saw. Even Gary Hart would admit he's done nothing much for years, arguably since he broke his leg at Peterborough. Most of us were surprised his contract got renewed in the summer.

He's played exceptionally well since his return to the side, and nobody's disputing that. In some strange development he appears to be a very different player to what he used to be. But I don't think apologies all round are in order, why should they be? It's up to the player to show what he's got, and for several years he hasn't done that. You can't blame the crowd for thinking he was past it based on the evidence in front of their eyes.

Chuffed he's done so well, but am I feeling guilty for mentally writing him off? No.

Yes, I absolutely have the balls to stand up and say it.

I thought we'd long since seen the back of Gary Hart as a genuine contributor for the Albion. Couldn't believe he got recalled last summer after being rightly released, and the early appearance as a starter under Adams, just confirmed my worst fears.

I got it wrong, I got it SPECTACULARLY wrong, and the humble pie tastes absolutely FANTASTIC, because the impact his return has had on our run-in has been a large part of what has turned us around.

It's also worth noting that like the OP says, it's over the last 6 games. If he'd've started like this in August, how long would he be able to maintain it?

Still, kudos to him for what he has done in the last six games, and the immense contribution it has made in out did to survive relegation this year.

You ask people to come and admit they were wrong yet you create a new account to make this thread... hmm

His form in the past month has been excellent insomuch as he's set up a couple of life saving goals and run his heart out. But he'd been looking extremely clapped-out for several seasons before that, and Wilkins saw fit to let him go. I'd give him no more than an initial three-month contract for next season and take it from there.

I think it was fair to be a critic of him as what little we have seen of him in recent years has been very poor up until about 3 weeks ago. I couldn't have wished for a nicer guy to have this good fortune but whether i would even sign him on next year is questionable.

For me we have 3 good strikers hopefully plus Owusu in the summer and i just don't see him fitting in. that said what a loyal and terrific player he was and in parts still is and i will undoubtedly roar him on tomorrow.

Happy to hold my hand up and say I thought he was past it - but then I think Harty's surprised a lot of people. It seems like he's been able to get fitter than he's been for a long time since having the latest operation, so maybe that's the key.

Don't feel any need to apologise for writing him off though, as I've never been one to slate players at matches or on here. On the basis of last season, he wasn't worth keeping. On the basis of his performances in the past few weeks, he is. It's good to see that he's been able to get his career back on track.
