Hickstead services - Parking

Anyone got any idea about parking at Hickstead services for the day?

I normally get the Costa Express from Pease Pottage but you have to pay £8. Popped over to Hickstead and couldn't see anything about having to pay.

Am I just being blind? I don't want to park there and find a ticket on my car!

Cheers.

Can't you park in the road by the Castle?

dont know about a charge for the services BUT just back from the road to buggers hole(on the rat run to the industrial estate, strawberry picking farm, that joins the A272)is a quiet side road, the sussex plod have a station there for traffic cops,SO i expect car thieves avoid the area. It's about 100 yards from the services

If you park at the services you have to pay (though I'm sceptical about exactly how regularly they check cars). Park in the layby by the Castle Inn Chinese restaurant, or if that's full, a few hundred metres further up the road before you get back on to the A23. Commuters do it every day.

Ah ok. I would be well ticked off I was parking there for the day, because nowhere does it suggest you have to pay. Even the travelodge website says parking is free (doesn't suggest you have to be a customer).

Well I can't say I've been there for ages, but when I've looked before- lift shares to work, Albion games etc- there have always been signs suggesting you will be charged if you're there for more than 2 hours.

As everyone's said, however, drive a few metres across to the Castle Inn, and either park in that layby, or the one a couple of hundred metres up the road northbound, by the burger van. No charges for that, I know a few people who park there on a regular basis.

Park near (not in )the pub in Pease Pottage, there's loads of places on the 'old A23 and walk over to the services.

tis easy

Good spot. Looking at google maps at the moment, and appears to be a pretty normal residential area. No parking restrictions I'm guessing?

I've stayed at the Travelodge at Hickstead a few times and can't remember seeing any signs about paying for parking though there is a big sign inside the Travelodge reception saying that the car park has a lot of trouble with break-ins and reminding you not to leave anything valuable in the car. Luckily not had any problems myself though.

We never pay at Peas Pottages services. Drive over the bridge and lots of street parking near the pub. There is a path into the service station so you dont have to walk all the way round to the road entrance.
