You're a mug, mate.

Can't be arsed to copy'n'paste beyond your second sentence...

Go away, little boy

"mug" - Sorry I didn't realise you were 14. Just so you now fo when you are older, "Cant be arsed" = A quick trip to failure.

Either things stay as they are, and we accept the status quo or things change and people implement a plan to fill the ground. The product is important of course, but that is but one element hat needs looking at. The catchment area is going to waste

I'm with you jamie, the trouble is, it was the atmosphere of the north stand at the goldstone that got me hooked as a kid, even though I stood in the NW terrace until the last season!

Yes I was the same, it was the north stand that got me hooked as wel. Even when I was a kid (except the brief first div years) the club did nothing to sell the club and crowds were going down. Its amazing that there is resistance to doing something about it. Perhaps we have the club we deserve

my comment referred to the reason we had a good crowd - not praise for the marketing dept

get the product right and the crowds will come back - product not price is key (unless prices are drastically reduced)

I think the gates are buoyed by season ticket holder seats.
If we don't sell those same tickets for next season, THAT'S when the numbers will reflect the abject result from the pitch.

We are still enjoying the season-ticket sales numbers from last season's events, and the hopes that were inflated by them.

you can never get away from the fact that the product should sell itself. How many of these kids after watching a lacklustre defeat, in the rain 50m away from the pitch will want to come back?

i hope you are right about the kids - we've invested enough money in the various schemes and have done our bit to ensure retired fotballers are not on the dole.

Which is where the new stadium should start working its magic. In my experience of organising school trips to Withdean most kids are interested in football whatever the result but a good proper stadium brings added wow factor.

The shit weather and shit home form are what led to a mediocre crowd for what was, after all, a genuine must-win match.

There are many clubs that would love to have c. 6,000 as their base attendance for any match, the problem is they're all in League 2 or the lower half of League 1.

Build it and they will come - maybe, yes Im sure you are right. But that is still not enough and does not help sell out first game of next season.

Divide up the geographical area, and give targets for the clubs sale staff, should in my view be the first step, and the second, to roll out the schools scheme by enrolling as many schools in the county as possible. Into the treble figures, not double figures should be the target

I f***ing HATE people who use 'product' in relation to football. It's everything that's wrong with the game.

PS when are you going to use 'place' and 'promotion' to make up your full house of wanky marketing terminology? Bloody students, the national debt they incur to work at McDonalds.....

..and it annoys me when people use the word "hate" without thinking.

I am not a student, well beyond that. I sort of agree with you, but the club needs to sell, and the marketing mix is more than "wanky terminology" it is people trying to work out what you need to do to sell, and that seems like a good idea for a club that cant sell 8K tickets to a population of Sussex of about 1/ 1.5 million people.. and come on what is your idea about how to do that, or do you just moan without an idea about what to do about it?

Glad I missed today a crossing back over the channel.

Trouble is you can't polish a turd and this season home form is a joke. I think DK should accept responsibility to say the least but will he ?

Well, I once had this great list of ideas that many on here and beyond supported. My mistake was to write them down and post a letter to Ken Brown. That cost me 39p + the envelope, without factoring in my time (minimum wage & 1.5hrs). I didn't believe others who'd done likewise until I received the following reply from our MD: :tumble:

Well that is not on. Wite again and copy it to harty, and if Harty is reading this and he does get him on the show, then DK needs to be asked why he cant sell 8K tickets to 1.5 Million people in sussex, and what plans does he have to rectify the problem.

I suggest dividing up the sussex area, and having sales staff responsible for an area on a weekly bonus for when they reach their target. I also would like the schools link up rolled out to a 100 plus schools plus, so the club has a future.

Any other ideas for Harty?

I was being sarcastic about Ken "the ghost" Brown earlier. But has anyone ever actually heard or seen our MD? Serious question!
